So my TV unfortunately broke and I haven’t been able to play video games for the past week and a half. :( But right before it broke, I did make a ton of wildly awesome progress in Rune Factory!
I spent some time leveling up/getting the best equipment before I finally went up to face the Legendary Golem. The Legendary Golem vs Ymir battle actually wasn’t too hard at all, as long as you blocked correctly. Everyone one of his punches is crazy powerful and I think as little as four hits made Ymir go down. But blocking is fairly easily and I did much of it.
The final battle with the Masked Man was pretty intense. (And OMG, what a big reveal! I won’t spoil it though) There are kind of two parts to the battle: pre-encouragement and post-encouragement. Halfway through the battle, the Masked Man kills you, but all of your friend’s encouragement revives you. Huzzah!
So the pre-encouragement battle wasn’t so bad. It was very similar to the Wind Shrine boss, except a bit slower. He has a lot of HP but there are a lot of opportunities to hit him. Post-encouragement, things get batshit insane because he has clones and all this other stuff. However, I figured out after I accidentally got killed once that your friends continue to revive you if you fall. I don’t know if there’s a limit to how many times they revive you, but it was pretty much impossible to lose the battle afterward. That ruined it for me a little.
Anyway, the masked man fell, the priestesses sang and peace returned to Fenith Island. HURRAH! WE WON!
Post battle, it was time to get more friendly with the islanders. Sonja and I were able to split, and then I started going into love territory with the ladies. I got to the point where I could ask some people to be my girlfriends, so I decided to ask Elena and Electra, and I rejected Sonja and Violet. So far, none of the other ladies are high enough to ask me, but I don’t think I plan on taking on more than two. I still want to marry Electra in the end. We have a date on Fall 4 that I’m excited about. <3
I’m also making it a point to collect all of the recipes and complete all the non-repeatable quests. I’ve been making excellent progress and I think I only have 11 more to collect. It’s not that I need anymore equipment; I just like having things complete.
I’m really sad I can’t play it, though. I might not have a working TV until late this week/end of next week. In the meantime, I guess I’ll be playing a lot of my DS …
Yes, I’m still playing this game. It’s been amazing. I think I’ve logged 60+ hours so far. But I’m almost to the end! Let’s talk about my progress.
- I completed the Water and Wind Shrines, which proved to be quite a challenge! I really had to level up and equip myself with the best weapons…
Gonna casually step in and remind a fellow player not to forget that the protagonists can marry each other ;) Which makes 10 potential bachelorettes and 4 potential bachelors.
Although Aden, for all his merits and as fervently as I ship him with Sonia, has some prick moments and might rub some people the wrong way being the jealous type. (Sonia has her moments on that too, so neither is a perfect person I guess.) The sad thing about marrying the two of them, though, is that they each start out with 8LP after the separation, so they only get two heart events where everyone else gets for. Sonia’s heart event for Aden and Aden’s heart events for Sonia are completely and totally different, though, so there ARE four; they just, ah, aren’t consecutive.
I think the reason there are fewer bachelors than bachelorettes is that the game was well past the character design point when they decided to make Sonia playable as a protagonist. The game reeks of having been developed with Sonia as the main heroine, along the lines of Mist, Mana, or Shara. (Also why there are three main heroines (Lily, Odette, and Violet) instead of one (Sonia).) I’d start ranting about that but nobody wants to hear it. :D
I’m playing it through the second time now, and I’m gonna for real try not to marry the protagonists. For real! I’m still at the Wind Shrine, though… but I did manage to bullshit my way into a pair of HQ Icifiers, which give me a cool 111 attack and sweet water power too. Although I’m probably just going to craft a Light Rod again to defeat Asmodeus and the final boss |D I like using magic on big targets.
Also, you don’t need to befriend the townsfolk to separate the protagonists. Just the bachelor/ettes. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t befriend the townsfolk, I mean, I’ve been meaning to, but, hah, I never do.
Thanks for all the solid advice!
I totally didn’t know that you only had to befriend the bachelors/bachelorettes to separate Aden and Sonja. Looks like I’m getting married sooner than I thought, woohoo!
Also, I realize now that Aden is a potential match for Sonja, but I’m so set on Aden marrying Electra that I din’t even think about it. ;)

This game is so fabulous. Like Lady Gaga fabulous.
I’ve just beaten Remix 7 and began playing a bit of the next grouping. Remix 7 prompted a credits roll, which means that I’ve basically played through all of the original levels. From now on, it’s a lot of sequels to the previous levels and then the remixes get maaaad hard. (Because they pretty much include everything)
I’ve really enjoyed all of the levels they offered! Some of them are super hard (like the Love Rap one, also the Bossa Nova one …) but most of them are really enjoyable. My favorites are See Saw, Karate Man, Air Rally, and many more. It’s a great game to just pick up and play whenever.

Yes, I’m still playing this game. It’s been amazing. I think I’ve logged 60+ hours so far. But I’m almost to the end! Let’s talk about my progress.
Every time I play a Rune Factory/Harvest Moon game, I always get insanely sucked in. I’m hoping that there’s still a lot of gameplay after I split my body between Aden and Sonja (besides just marriage) and a lot of people have suggested continuing two games after the split— one game for Sonja and one game for Aden. I’d probably really enjoy this because that means it’s double the marriage and double the fun!
I’ve already chosen Electra as my bride-to-be for Aden but I haven’t really thought about Sonja. The bachelorettes are much better than the bachelors! I mean, Sonja only gets to choose between James, Joe and Bismarck. James has a weird sister fetish and Bismarck is a wuss so … I guess that leaves Joe? He’s a little irresponsible but I guess he’s the best choice. I guess the game creators figured more guys would be playing, wanting to marry girls, than the other way around …

I haven’t started any new games because this game has pretty much sucked up my gaming life. I’m telling you, these simulation/Harvest Moon-ish type games are dangerous for me! I could play these for hours.
A lot has happened. I’m just about ending my first summer, hurrah! I beat the Earth Shrine (pretty easy boss) to get a Green Core that made Ymir, my golem, travel much further. Then I beat the Fire Shrine (an annoyingly hard boss) to get the Red Core, which Elena is using to upgrade Ymir even further. I have a ton of friends in the level 1-2 range and I’ve been wooing Electra so she’s around level 4. I have most of the benches/workshops in my house and all of the furniture, minus a Steamer and an expanded storage box. I also found Winter Island, so I can mine ore using my monsters. I have a pretty good income and a good team, I’d say.
I was really looking forward to the whole woo-ing/marriage part of the game (with Electra <3) but I found out that you have to beat all of the shrines, finish the storyline and get everyone on the island up to friend level 6 in order to just separate from Sonja. Then I can finish up with my family and such. I’m a little bummed you have to wait that long, but I guess there is plenty of other stuff to do in the meantime. I mean, if I have to get everyone to friend level 6, that’s a lot of work ahead of me!
After Elena finishes up Ymir, I can probably go even deeper into the ocean to the next shrine. I feel like I need to level up much more …

I haven’t gotten to play video games in a loooong ass time. I was on vacation for a week (Disney World, squeeee!) and after I got back, I didn’t have much time to spend at home. I was at my mom’s house, my boyfriend’s house, at work catching up … The only games I really had time to play were nintendogs+cats and Mario Kart 7.
Before my vacation, I did manage to pick up Rhythm Heaven Fever which I was crazy excited about. I have the DS game and loveloveloved it and I knew I would have the same feelings for this. I played through a ton of the levels, getting a few perfects but alas … I was playing it on my boyfriend’s Wii so I don’t have any of my progress saved at home. Time to start over! Which I don’t mind because it’s truly a fantastic game. 10/10. If you enjoyed any of the WarioWare games, like music and want something different in your gaming library, I suggest picking this up. Some levels are actually pretty challenging, too.
NOW I SHALL PLAY ALL THE GAMES.
A bun's guide to games! A log of my current progress in various video games (and other random video game ramblings).
(Caution-- spoilers ahead! If you haven't played any of the games I'm logging, beware ...)
